In short
- Ferah scans your disk on your Mac. Scanning and cleaning never use the network.
- No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. We do not sell data.
- File contents are never read, by the app or by us.
- The optional AI analysis sends one item's metadata only when you press its button.
Who is responsible
Ferah and this website are operated by Agleo (İstanbul, Türkiye). For any privacy question: [email protected].
The app on your Mac
To show what takes space, Ferah reads file and folder names, sizes, dates and a few project markers (for example package.json, an Xcode project's info.plist, the device name and date of an iPhone backup). It does not open or read the contents of your files.
Your settings, the last scan and the cleanup history are stored only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Ferah. Ferah sends no crash reports, usage statistics or scan results to us.
Update checks
Ferah periodically downloads https://ferah.agleo.co/download/appcast.xml to see whether a new version exists, and downloads the update if you agree. Like any web request, this reaches our server with your IP address and a user agent containing the app and macOS version. We use this only to deliver updates. You can turn automatic checks off in Ferah's settings.
Optional AI analysis
AI analysis is off until you turn it on, and each analysis runs only when you press the button on one item. Before you turn it on, Ferah shows exactly what will be sent.
Sent: one item's path (with your home folder replaced by ~), size, dates, names of direct child items inside ~/Library, hidden tool folders and known generated folders, file-type counts and the facts Ferah verified. Not sent: file contents, names inside your own folders, or anything else.
The request goes to our server (apiferah.agleo.co), which forwards it to OpenAI (United States) to produce the answer. Under OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train their models by default and may be kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring (OpenAI privacy policy).
Our server stores: a random device ID created on first use and a hash of its access token (the token itself stays in your Mac's Keychain), a salted hash of your IP address to limit new registrations, usage counters, cached answers (for 30 days, so identical questions cost no credit) and, if you buy a pack, a hash of your license key with its remaining credits. It does not store the request contents, IP addresses in clear text or license keys in clear text.
Purchases
AI analysis packs are sold by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and processes your name, e-mail address, payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. We receive the order and license key status so that refunds and disabled keys can remove remaining credits.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising pixels, third-party fonts or third-party scripts. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, requested page, time) for security and operation; they are rotated regularly and not used to profile visitors.
Legal bases and transfers
We process data to provide the features you request (contract), to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest), and to meet legal obligations. Data for AI analysis is transferred to OpenAI in the United States, and purchase data is processed by Lemon Squeezy, also in the United States, under appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, article 11) and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to processing and complain to a supervisory authority. Write to [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. Because Ferah has no accounts, we can only find AI records that you help us identify, for example by your license key.
Children
Ferah is a utility for Mac owners and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date on this page; important changes are also announced in the release notes.
